We are excited to announce that this year’s performance will be by Dr. E. Patrick Johnson entitled, “Pouring Tea: Black Gay Men of the South Tell Their Tales.” The presentation is a dramatic reading of some of the oral histories that Dr. E. Patrick Johnson collected through interviews with gay black men of various generations, revealing not only the struggles they face but also their ability to thrive in an often-hostile world. Dr. Johnson is a performer, scholar, and activist, who has taught at Northwestern University for the past twelve years. The performed oral histories come from his book Sweet Tea: Black Gay Men of the South- An Oral History.
